Description: C-X-C motif chemokine 14 (CXCL14) is a 77 amino acid Cys-X-Cys chemokine that may play a greater role in the homeostasis of monocyte-derived macrophages rather than inflammation. CXCL14 is an orphaned ligand since a receptor has not yet been determined. CXCL14 is chemotactic for monocytes in the presence of prostaglandin-E2, an attractor and activator of dendritic cells, and chemoattractant for activated NK cells. CXCL14 is constitutively produced without inflammatory stimuli in many normal tissues including the heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas. It is reduced or absent in most cancer cell lines and weakly expressed in monocyte-derived dendritic cells and unstimulated peripheral blood lymphocytes. CXCL14 production is induced in peripheral blood lymphocytes by LPS. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The CXC cytokines are chemotactic cytokines characterized by two cysteines separated by one amino acid that induce directed chemotaxis in nearby responsive cells. Recombinant human CXCL14 from Molecular Innovations is provided as a native untagged protein. This chemokine is expressed in E. coli then processed, refolded and purified to yield the native, secreted form of the mature chemokine. >98percent pure by SDS-PAGE, HPLC, MALDI-MS and NMR analysis. Add deionized water to desired volume, aliquot and freeze unused portion.
